Galloway Sailing Centre is situated near Loch Ken, CastleDouglas, Dumfries. The Centre offers power-boating courses which will take you from the basics of low speed handling to the skills of high speed turns. All instructors hold National Governing Body accreditation.
The Centre offers non-residential and residential courses and provides good accommodation. Pleasecontact the centre for further information.
Powerboat level 2
RYA Powerboat Level 1 & 2 is a two day course and a practical introduction to boat handling skills. You will acquire all the background knowledge that is needed by a competent power-boater. You'll learn high and low speed manoeuvres, man overboard recovery, seamanship skills, anchoring and a whole host of other skills. The course is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

Safety boat
The RYA Safetyboat is a two day course which provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, coach boat or safety boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes for racing or training activities. The course covers a host of dinghy, windsurf and kayak rescue situations. This an essential course for those using powerboats to provide safety cover.
