The Otter Haven carpark is set in a spectacular location with stunning views across the Kylerhea narrows to Glenelg and the Kintail mountains.
There is a viewing hide where you may watch for a variety of mammals and birds. You are permitted to take photographs. There is a warden present in the hide during the summer to answer your questions.
Mammals to see at Otter Haven
You may see common and Atlantic grey seals in the sea, and otters on the shoreline. The seals often haul out onto the shore. If you are fortunate, you may spot the occasional school of bottle-nosed and common dolphins.
Birds to see at Otter Haven
You may see sandpipers, herons, rock pipits, kittiwakes, oystercatchers, dippers, cormorants, shags, eiders, gannets, guillemots, fulmars and many different gulls. If you are fortunate, you may spot a white-tailed eagle.
The Countryside Code
You are requested to follow the countryside code. Please do not leave litter, as seals etc have been known to swallow plastic bags and may starve due to being unable to digest their food. Please avoid damaging the area, and leave everything as you find it. Guard against fire hazards. Only guide dogs are allowed and must be under control at all times.
