Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway is a living museum of Scotland's railways. The railway is operated by volunteers of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society. The volunteers have brought together Scotland's largest railway heritage collection since 1961. They carry out restoration work on the collection, and are responsible for the operation and maintenance of all aspects of the railway.
One of the highlights of your visit is travelling behind a lovingly-restored historic locomotive. Your journey starts at Bo'ness Station and takes you along the shores of the Forth. It then climbs a tree-lined gradient with stunning views and you arrive at Birkhill with its fascinating fireclay mine.
On your return to Bo'ness, you cross over the footbridge to visit the Scottish Railway Exhibition. You'll discover a large selection from the Society's collection of locomotives, wagons and carriages. You'll enjoy models and displays that tell the history of railways in Scotland.
The Station Coffee Shop offers a full range of meals, snacks, ice creams, and hot and cold drinks. The souvenir shop has books, videos and memorabilia for the enthusiast.
