Dryads are faeries who are found in all Celtic countries. They are tree
dwelling creatures and their nature is playful. In Greek drys signifies
oak from an Indo-European root derew(o) meaning tree or wood.

dryad is open to human contact and is active all year. Willow trees in
which a dryad lodges are said to walk about at night looking for new
pastures in which to lay down their roots. Dryads know of astral
travel, tree magic and divination, and may be coaxed into sharing their
secrets.
